Wolf & Grizzly Discovery Center
The Wolf & Grizzly Discovery Center is a unique not-for-profit wildlife park and educational facility, where wolves and grizzlies, who would be unable to live in the wild, find a well managed home open to the public. Geared for those who wish to see and experience wildlife up-close, the center also allows children to participate in hiding food before bear feeing time. Birds-of-Prey are also exhibited at scheduled times.
2 Tour Options: Discovery Center; DC w/GTNP bonus
Traveling to the Wolf & Grizzly Discovery Center, located in West Yellowstone, we pass through GTNP and the western portion of YSNP’s lower loop road, and continue by following the Madison River as we exit the west entrance. Tour modifications are always possible and could include a stop at other hydrothermal areas, the IMAX theater, or the Museum of the Yellowstone.
1) Discovery Center Tour - approx 11.5 hrs:
As with all YSNP tours, this tour begins by making one stop along the outer road in GTNP. It continues with distant views of majestic Yellowstone Lake, viewing the eruption of the famous Old Faithful Geyser, and passing through eagle breading areas. We will continue to the Discovery Center to view a variety of bears, wolves, and birds-of-prey. For the return to Jackson, we will retrace our route and, if time allows, stop at other hydrothermal features in the geyser basin area.
2) Discovery Center with GTNP Bonus Tour - approx 13 hrs:
This tour travels to the Discovery Center, as described above, and incorporates 3 extra GTNP stops, including a stroll along String Lake and a stop at the scenic Jenny Lake Lookout. For those with very limited time in Jackson Hole, this tour offers and unique combination of wildlife and scenery in one day.
(fun facts: Adult male grizzlies typically need 250 square miles of habitat to live peacefully and they will eat their young.)
